RCDs around the state of California sponsor Conservation-themed speech contests on a set topic each fall for interested high school students with opportunities for cash prizes and advancement to regional and state-level contests.
In Monterey County, RCDMC holds the county-level contest typically in September, with the winner and runner-up receiving cash awards. The winner will advance to the Central Coast Regional competition and could potentially advance to the state-level contest at the California Association of RCDs Annual Conference. Travel to these events for the student and chaperone is paid for by the RCD.
