This pilot program is a partnership with The Nature Conservancy, the Central Coast Wetlands Group, the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and Grower-Shipper Association of Central California, designed to test a cooperative model for multi-farm drainage runoff management in the Moro Cojo and Blanco Drain watersheds. The program includes effectiveness monitoring of water quality treatment wetlands installed by Central Coast Wetlands Group, and irrigation and nutrient management technical assistance for farmers on the lands draining to those treatment wetlands. The goal of the program is to demonstrate a cooperative approach for farmers to meet their water quality goals in the most efficient manner possible for extension to other growers in the region and consideration by water quality regulators for their support and acceptance.
