Underground Outlets

 
     

Definition:

A pipe installed beneath the surface of the ground to collect surface water and convey it to a suitable outlet.

Purpose:

To convey runoff water from steep slopes on developed parcels.

Criteria:

Apply this practice where the slope is greater than 1% and concentrated runoff has enough volume to cause erosion and transport sediment.
