Row Arrangement

This program is currently frozen until new funds are received to re-start it.

The Resource Conservation District provides technical training to farmers, tractor drivers and/or foreman in English and Spanish that would like to learn how to list beds along the contour of the slope. This practice, called “row arrangement” or "furrow alignment” is used to minimize erosion within the furrows on hillside farms.

A conservation planner will come out to your farm and assist you in using a clinometer, hand level or abney to determine a 2% slope. This slight decline will allow water to slowly flow out the end of the furrow to a safe outlet.  The direction of the furrows will be documented on a map for your convenience and together we will find a permanent marker for future bed listing.

Gully Stabilization Arranging furrows on the contour or with a 2% slope slows slows runoff and reduces soil erosion.
