The Resource Conservation District of Monterey County is entirely
funded by grants and contracts. Unlike other RCDs in California,
we do not have a tax base, nor do we currently receive any funding
from the County of Monterey. Your donations in the form of cash
or time contributions can help the ongoing operations and projects
of the RCD.
The District encompasses about 2 million acres, almost 95% of the
Monterey County. It includes 401,762 residents and 151,502 registered
voters. The RCD does not receive any tax revenues from the County.
All government funding has been awarded through competitive grants.
The conservation and restoration work performed by the RCD is critical
to maintaining an environmentally sustainable and economically viable
agricultural sector and maintaining the high quality of life throughout
the County.

With your help we can continue to improve environmental health and
quality of life for Monterey County
SAY “THANK YOU”
If you are pleased with the work the RCD does, write
us a letter or email saying so. If you are willing, grant us permission to share
that letter when we apply for funds in the future, and it will increase
our ability and our capacity to fulfill our mission.
MAKE A DONATION
Your donations in the form of cash or time contributions can help
the ongoing operations and project of the RCD. The RCD is authorized
by California Public Resource Code Section 9403 to receive gifts
and contributions just like any other research, educational or public
charity. As a political subdivision of the State, a Special District
like the RCD is exempt from taxation, thereby allowing contributors
to deduct their donations.
The RCD may receive tax deductible donations under Internal Revenue
Service Code Section 170 (b) and 170 (c) (1). This section says that
contributions to a governmental entity are deductible up to 50% of
the taxpayer's adjusted gross income. The RCD may accept all forms
of contributions including, but not limited to, gifts, property,
cash, stocks and securities. California law also allows the RCD to
acquire and own land. Contact your accountant or financial consultant
for further information on giving to the RCD.
If you, your company or organization is interested in making a contribution
to the RCD, please contact us.
ONLINE DONATIONS
We are currently considering the possibility of accepting online
credit card donations to the RCD. In the meantime, please contact the RCD office for more information on how to
donate.
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME
The RCD is always looking for enthusiastic individuals interested
in donating their time and skills to assist with our operations. We
always need assistance both in the office and on field projects. Common
activities include volunteer planting, weeding, creek cleanups, database
management, maintaining our resource library, and general office
administrative assistance. No experience is necessary, just
a good attitude and willingness to learn. If you are interested
in volunteering with the RCD, contact our
office.
